Stop slugging parents for school supplies, principals told.

The Sydney Morning Herald recently reported (January 21) that the NSW education department has advised public school principals to refrain from overburdening parents with additional costs for school supplies amidst rising living expenses. In an email sent last week, NSW Education Secretary Murat Dizdar urged principals to be cautious with their language when requesting financial contributions before the start of the term. Premier Chris Minns also supported the call and emphasized the importance of not placing undue financial pressure on families during these tough times. Dizdar's reminder comes as some public schools have been requesting exorbitant financial contributions from parents, prompting him to take this initiative.
