June 2023

We are happy to provide an update on the Australian Universities Accord Panel's recent progress in conducting a thorough review of the higher education sector in Australia. Earlier this year, the Panel invited stakeholders to submit their thoughts and perspectives through written submissions. The Panel received over 300 submissions from a broad range of sectors, reflecting diverse voices.

The call for submissions by the Panel was intended to gather valuable input from individuals and organisations with a vested interest in the future of Australian higher education. This consultative approach offered an excellent opportunity for all stakeholders to contribute to developing the Panel's final report, which will be presented to the Minister for Education.

The significant number of submissions received emphasises the importance of the higher education sector in Australia. It also highlights the dedication of stakeholders in shaping its future. The submissions covered various topics, including improving access and equity, and enhancing teaching and research excellence.

The Australian Universities Accord Panel has expressed their appreciation to all the individuals and organisations who contributed their ideas and insights. Their time and efforts were greatly valued.

Additionally, we want to draw your attention to the Higher Education Standards Panel (HESP) Paper. The HESP Paper offers valuable insights and recommendations on maintaining and improving the quality and standards of higher education in Australia. It can be accessed via the following link:
