We know that mental health challenges can be especially difficult for young children, and we want to ensure that teachers have access to the best possible strategies for supporting their students. Catherine Johnson, a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, is conducting an online Delphi expert consensus study aimed at developing consensus on safe, effective, and feasible strategies for primary school teachers to support students who may be experiencing anxiety in the classroom. The study aims to provide a set of best practice, feasible strategies that is developed with teachers, for teachers.
The study invites teachers, health professionals and parent advocates to collaborate and share their expertise in teaching or treatment for childhood anxiety and depression. The study is an opportunity for members of the public to contribute to improving mental health outcomes for children in Australian primary schools. Participants will provide input on the strategies that are most helpful and feasible for teachers to use in the classroom.
