Speakers
Dr Michael Carr-Gregg is an adolescent psychologist specialising in mental health. He has worked as a family therapist; child psychologist, researcher and academic. An internationally renowned speaker on issues affecting families and young people. Richard Eckersley is a Fellow of the National Centre for Epidemiology & Population Health at the Australian National University. He has written extensively on factors affecting resilience, well-being and connectedness. Author of "Well and Good: How we Feel and Why it Matters".
Dr Sue Dockett is Associate Professor (Early Childhood Education) at the University of Western Sydney. Over a number of years, Sue’s research focus has been children’s play, children’s thinking and the transition to school. Since 1997, Sue has been co-director of the Starting School Research project, based at the University of Western Sydney. Luise Lang is a senior psychologist with the Family Court of Australia, based in Canberra. Prior to this she was a psychologist in the hospital system working with families and the psychologist in the juvenile justice system in the ACT. Her long experience with the development of young people began as a teacher of psychology at Copland College; a play therapist attached to a unit for behaviourally disturbed children and an adolescent psychology lecturer at the University of Canberra.
Robyn Williams AM has presented The Science Show on ABC Radio since 1975, plus many other outstanding science programs on radio and television, and books with a focus on the importance of science. Robyn Williams appears by arrangement with Celebrity Speakers - The Christine Maher Group. Prof Brian V. Hill is Emeritus Professor of Education at Murdoch University. He has written and spoken widely on education and values and been a consultant on values education. His most recent book is: "Exploring Religion in School: A National Priority" (2004).
Dr Lyndsay Connors has worked as a freelance journalist and education writer; member of the ACT Schools Authority; Commonwealth Schools Commission, Chair of the Curriculum Development Council and Deputy Chair of the ABC. More recently Director of Higher Education in NSW, Lyndsay is now Adjunct Associate Professor in Education at University of Sydney. Mignon Souter is currently Principal of Richmond Primary School, SA, with extensive background experience in education, including as a school counsellor.
Prof Alan Reid is Professor of Education at the University of South Australia. In 2004-5 Alan has been seconded into the South Australian Department of Education and Children’s Services (DECS) to lead some major curriculum initiatives, and to be a member of the Panel reviewing the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). Prof Brian Caldwell was until recently Dean of Education at the University of Melbourne, and Chair of the Asia Education Foundation. A challenging writer and speaker on the future of education, Brian is Managing Director of Educational Transformations Pty Ltd and Professorial Fellow in Educational Policy & Management at the University of Melbourne.
